All hard mode will really do is instead of asking Artis for more medals, you buy them at the caravan, but you can select which one you want and drops are lower on normal, but that's it. If it makes you feel better, there is NO MISSABLES in this game so any files as long as you don't glitch the game too hard can be 100%ed, even some achievements that requires hard mode, ALWAYS possible to do it at one point in time. There's not shame in doing this btw, there's a reason it's a toggle and if it means you'll enjoy the game more, then do it and if you care enough, replay it on hard after beating the game once if you feel like it. Given this, I would tbh take off hard mode. It's not going to be a trend however, not all ch are like that and ch1 is just particularly fairer in case you had issues at the start. The saves tbh I would say tends to be generous throughout the game, but one thing to note: ch1 is by design more generous with items than usual to make it easier to get into so that explains why.
